Bleeding, she held me
Tight and steady
Our skins of gold touching
Hearts beating, trembling
Both of us surviving the battle

Ma was born of a warrior woman
Who was born of a warrior woman too
Who worked and fought and prayed to survive
So they could raise warrior women too

Sacred femininity
Divine and Blessed
Connects me by umbilical cord
To this lineage of strength and vitality
Coursing through me, the lives and lessons
Of every warrior woman before me
