Ube Obsession Print

Some artists adorn their subjects with flowers, but I prefer to adorn mine with food—specifically, Filipino food. This is Ube Obsession. Yes, it’s a little over the top, but I wanted to explore something unique, fun, and absolutely delicious.

While creating this piece, I drew inspiration from vintage Filipina models of the 1960s, with their towering beehive hairstyles and dramatic butterfly-shouldered gowns. I chose lime green for the background because it beautifully complements purple… and, fun fact, so does the flavor of pandan!
