Afro-Filipina Print
This piece was inspired by the story of a young Nigerian Pinay named Ruth Heeson who was navigating her identity and experiences with racism in the Philippines and beyond. It reflects the ongoing challenges faced by those who exist at the intersection of multiple cultures, as well as the resilience and beauty inherent in embracing one’s heritage.
The work is a call for empathy, kindness, and understanding. It reminds us to approach the world with open minds and hearts, honoring the dignity and humanity of every individual, regardless of race or background.
