Harana Print
Harana was a traditional form of courtship in the Philippines, in which men would introduce themselves or express their affection by singing beneath a woman’s window at night. Practiced widely in pre-colonial and early colonial Philippine society, harana followed a distinct set of customs, etiquette, and musical styles.
More than a serenade, harana was a respectful ritual—one that emphasized patience, sincerity, and cultural values rooted in honor and romantic expression through music.
